Four ways to start
Click the purple "New Book" button at the top right. The menu offers:
- Write a Book with AI: type a short prompt; AI generates the full ebook.
- Browse Templates: pre-built outlines by genre. Fastest path to a structured first draft.
- Start from scratch: a blank book with just a title and category. Best when you already know what you want to write.
- Import content: bring a .docx, .epub, .pdf, .txt, or .md file in. Chapters auto-detect from headings.
Writing a good AI prompt
For the "Write a Book with AI" path, the prompt shapes the entire book. A few rules of thumb:
- Be specific about the topic and the angle: "A beginner's guide to sourdough for busy parents" beats "a cookbook".
- Name the audience: who is this for? Their experience level changes the voice and depth.
- Aim for one to three sentences. Prompts past around 5,000 characters trigger a "this looks like a pasted manuscript" prompt; if you already have content, use Import instead.
- Skip the structure: AI handles chapter outline. Just describe the book you want to read.
