Your book starts with a ready-made outline.

Key takeaways
Open the template gallery
New Book → Templates tab on the Home page.
Click any template
A preview opens with the outline and sample.
Use or close
Hit Use Template to start a book, or close to keep browsing.
Steps
From the Home tab, click New Book and switch to the Templates tab. Each template shows the genre, target audience, and chapter count on its card. Click any template to open the preview. You will see the full chapter outline, a sample chapter, and a draft cover, all using your account author name.
You can browse as many templates as you like before picking one. When you find one that fits, click Use Template to spin up a new book from it. Everything in the resulting book is editable, so the template is just a starting point, not a lock-in.
Custom templates, page margins, and other layout limits
What you can and can't customize about your book's layout right now.

Key takeaways
Duplicate as a starting point
Copy a finished book and edit, instead of starting blank.
Margins are auto-set
Tuned for KDP and standard ereaders.
Full template builder is on the roadmap
A proper save-as-template feature is planned.
Reusing a book structure
There is no full template builder yet. For now, the cleanest way to reuse a book structure is to duplicate a finished book from the Home tab and edit the copy. That gives you the same chapter outline, branding, and cover settings as a starting point without re-typing.
A proper template builder (where you save a whole book skeleton with chapter titles, branding, and cover settings as one reusable thing) is on the product roadmap. We will announce it in the changelog when it ships.
Page margins
Page margins are auto-set in the export pipeline to values that work for standard book trim sizes (5x8, 6x9) and KDP's technical specs. They are not user-configurable today, deliberately: wrong margins are the most common reason a book gets rejected by Amazon's print preflight, and we found that exposing the controls created more problems than it solved.
If you have a specific publishing target that needs different margins (large print, picture book, etc.), email us with the trim size and target platform and we can guide you, or check our blog post on print-ready PDF setup.
